Yes, rats do not live very long. But Berry seemed to be otherwise in good health, and following surgery, she sprung back to life as though she’d just had a Do it for him shirt burden lifted from her (no surprise, huh?). Unfortunately, after we had a tumor surgically removed, a new one sprouted elsewhere after just a few weeks. When this happened yet again after the second surgery, we decided that it no longer made sense for us to have Berry go through the procedure again, given the short life expectancy of rats. Two weeks ago Berry finally succumbed to the multiple tumor growths that were making her thin and frail, and we brought her back to Adobe Animal Hospital to have her put to sleep. The vet tech on shift put it so well when she said while consoling me, “They’re so little, but they get into your heart, don’t they?”
So, we kept going to other doctors, and we found out that he has celiac disease and Do it for him shirt lactose intolerance. Between these 2, in every meal he was getting something that had something that didn’t work with his stomach. We went on a gluten free diet. His appetite became better and his size improved. Then we removed lactose, and his gagging stopped. All of this took 4 years of figuring out, and he went on a gluten free, lactose free diet when he was 6-7 He is 8 now, and he is beginning to try a lot of new things. He loves pizza with veggies. He ate salmon for the first time few weeks ago. He has graduated to getting onions on his cheese burger.. no lettuce yet. He did try ribs, but didn;t like it. I made chicken wings for him this weekend, which he loved. I would say gagging might be an issue on it’s own, or it could be a secondary issue that arises because of something else in his digestive system. If you aren’t making headway, go to a gastroentrologist.

Buy functional shoes that they can manage. Limit toys to a Do it for him shirt that is easy to maintain for the child and teach them how to put them away. Respect their need for structure, don’t expect a child who is extremely hungry to be calm in a restaurant, don’t make a tired child run errands and be frustrated when they act out. In short, be the adult and realize they are children. With that foundation in place, discipline becomes less needed. Discipline should always be logical, and based on what has happened. The child refuses to clean up what they are playing with? Remove it for a time. Remind the child when they are in a good mood that you will remove toys they leave out. Tantrum at the restaurant? Leave. I have spent half an hour sitting with a screaming kid while my husband and other child finished and paid, and vice versa. It typically happens once.
The first man to be cryogenically frozen went through the Do it for him shirt in January 1967. Walt Disney died a month earlier, on December 15, 1966, following a three week stay at St. Joseph’s Hospital (just across the street from the Disney studio lot) after a collapse he suffered following the removal of his left, cancerous lung. His ashes were cremated and interred at the Disney family plot in Forest Lawn cemetery in Hollywood. He was told before his collapse that the cancer had spread and he only had six months to two years to live. Even though Walt Disney was an idealist, it would make little sense to experiment with cryogenics on a weak, dying man with little chance of surviving long after being revived. The cryogenics rumor (tied to Disney’s hands-on approach with his studio and its projects, and the idea that he’d “never let it go”) began as an inside joke among the Disney staff, and somehow made its way out into the consciousness of the world. The real Walter Elias Disney, however, is dead.
