My favorite thing about #FeministHackerBarbie is not that it got Mattel to recall their shitty book. Or that my extended family dug out a radio and listened to my interview on NPR during our thanksgiving dinner (though that was pretty sweet).
It’s that I got to read thousands of new versions of Computer Engineer Barbie from the creative and brilliant and hilarious and truthful voices of you folks on the internet.
I also hope I’ve helped make the words “feminist” and “hacker” a little less scary and a little more familiar. They don’t have to be dirty words that mean burning bras or stealing credit card information. They can mean that you’re compassionate and supportive of other people, including women, and that you like building and creating things with technology. 🙂
